BBP leader Mustafa Destici calls for an across-the-board pay raise for retirees.

BBP leader Mustafa Destici calls for an across-the-board pay raise for retirees.

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan announced that they have created financial opportunities in the 2027 budget that will improve the situation of retirees. Following this announcement, a call for a raise for retirees came from Mustafa Destici, Chairman of the BBP, a partner of the People's Alliance. Destici said that the 8,000-lira flat-rate raise given to civil servants in 2023 should also be given to retirees.

Retirement pensions were again on the agenda of Mustafa Destici, Chairman of the Grand Unity Party (BBP), one of the partners of the People's Alliance. BBP leader Destici recalled the 8,000-lira extra increase granted to civil servants in 2023 and said that the lowest retirement pension should be 40,000 TL.

HE DID NOT FORGET THE PERIBACASI ACCIDENT

Mustafa Destici, Chairman of the BBP, attended the opening ceremony of his party's new Nevşehir Provincial Organization building. Speaking at the ceremony, Destici wished mercy for those who lost their lives as a result of the collapse of the Peribacası and condolences to their families.  Noting that Nevşehir has historical and touristic works and valleys and has hosted very rich civilizations, Destici said that the people of Nevşehir also protect the historical richness.  Drawing attention to Nevşehir's production potential, Destici stated that a significant part of Turkey's potato, onion, apple and grain production takes place in Nevşehir. Mustafa Destici said, “I state once again that we desire Nevşehir to be supported at all times and the city to grow, and that we have always supported and will always support the steps to be taken in this direction. Because there is potential in Nevşehir and in the people of Nevşehir.”

“FARMERS MUST BE PROTECTED”

Mustafa Destici, who said that the state and government need to increase their investments in Nevşehir and particularly called for support for farmers and producers, spoke as follows: “The support provided must be increased. Producers and farmers must be protected. When potatoes or onions or other agricultural products bought from the producer for 10 liras or 12 liras are sold in the market or at the bazaar for 50 liras, I personally get upset. Because it is not the producer but the intermediaries who earn more. However, the earnings are the producer's right. It is the right of those who put in the effort. We are making very concrete proposals. We say, 'The special consumption tax (ÖTV) on diesel used by farmers should be abolished.' When a farmer consumes diesel, that is, while plowing his field, planting potatoes and onions, or harvesting them, is he consuming diesel for personal use? He is consuming it to produce. On the contrary, you should not collect ÖTV; you should provide it at a reduced rate so that production increases. Without production, we cannot develop or progress. Likewise, it must be ensured that farmers can sell their products at their true value. Our potato, onion and apple producers must also be protected. These are staple foods.

“THE STATE MUST FIND A SOLUTION”

A table in Anatolia without potatoes and onions is unthinkable. Onion is indispensable for every dish. Potato is indispensable for every table. Apple is the first fruit that every person should consume, but unfortunately, apples are abundant this year and their price has fallen to as low as 5 liras. Grapes are the same. The state, the government, and the relevant institutions and organizations must definitely find a solution to these. The farmer cannot be left, so to speak, alone with his fate. This is not his fate. It is not the farmer's fate. It cannot be the farmer's fate. The farmer and the producer must always be supported.

“INTEREST IS ALSO A ROBBERY”

Destici, who stated that the demands of tradespeople and industrialists also need to be met, criticized interest rates. Destici said, “In a country where inflation is announced as 30 percent, if interest rates are 50-55, this can never be acceptable. Inflation is 30, interest is 45, 50, 55. This is unacceptable. This is another kind of robbery. There is already a fund robbery, a fund embezzlement; we curse those who do it and state that all of them must be held accountable without any distinction.” BBP Chairman Destici, noting that high interest rates leave tradespeople, producers and industrialists in a difficult situation, said, “Interest is also a robbery. One of the most important factors that ruins tradespeople, ruins producers and ruins industrialists is interest. High interest. The producer earns 3 to 5 percent, while interest is 50 percent. Is it possible to overcome this? It is not possible to overcome this.”

“OUR RETIREES ARE IN A MISERABLE STATE”

Also touching on the economic problems experienced by retirees, Destici noted the following: “Our retirees, our retirees receiving low pensions, are in a miserable state. They are unable to make ends meet. I have stated before as well: the lowest retirement pension should currently be at least 40,000 liras. The 8,000-lira extra increase given to civil servants in July 2023 should also be given to retirees, and by also providing a regular increase, the lowest retirement pension should be raised above 40,000 liras in January. The only solution is not to increase salaries. Because, for our people to live comfortably, what is required by being a social state must be done.”

IT WAS ALSO ON PRESIDENT ERDOĞAN'S AGENDA

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, who made a statement regarding retirement pensions in recent days, had pointed to the year 2027. President Erdoğan had used the following expressions: “I have sincerely stated many times before that we are aware of the difficulties experienced by our retirees. We have always endeavored to be constructive on this issue and to do our best, even at the cost of pushing the conditions. God willing, in the 2027 Budget, we are creating the financial means to somewhat improve the situation of our retirees, who are the crown of our heads. For this, we hope to implement the necessary legal regulation, within the framework of justice and fairness, by the end of the year, with the appreciation of our Grand National Assembly of Turkey.”
