Twelve people were killed and at least nine others injured in a shooting at an informal settlement in Johannesburg, South Africa. Police said the motive for the attack is not yet known and more than ten suspects fled the scene.
12 people lost their lives in an armed attack in Johannesburg, Republic of South Africa.
Police Spokesperson Dimakatso Nevhuhlwi told the press that the attack took place in an illegal settlement called Jumpers in the Cleveland area of Johannesburg.
12 PEOPLE KILLED
Nevhuhlwi reported that 11 people, including 3 women, died at the scene, and 1 man who was taken to the hospital with injuries later succumbed.
Stating that at least 9 injured people in the incident are receiving treatment at nearby health facilities, Nevhuhlwi said the cause of the attack is not yet known and the investigation into the incident continues.
10 ATTACKERS FIRED CONSECUTIVELY
Nevhuhlwi stated that according to initial findings, more than 10 suspects were seen getting out of a white minibus near a gas station in Cleveland. Pointing out that the suspects entered the settlement from two different points and opened fire on the residents, Nevhuhlwi noted that the attackers then fled the scene in the same vehicle.
