Security camera footage has emerged showing the moment a car traveling through the Eurasia Tunnel in Istanbul crashed into a fire department's fire panel. In the incident, which caused panic, water from the extinguishing system leaked into the tunnel due to a burst faucet from the impact, and in a statement from the Istanbul Governorship, it was stated that the water flowing into the tunnel had no connection with seawater.

Last Monday, around 08:00, an incident occurred in the Eurasia Tunnel when a moving car crashed into a fire department's fire panel, causing a burst valve that led to water from the extinguishing system flowing into the tunnel. 

EURASIA TUNNEL WAS CLOSED

After the incident, the Eurasia Tunnel was closed to vehicle traffic. Claims that the water flowing into the tunnel was seawater caused panic. In a statement from the Istanbul Governor's Office, it was emphasized that the water flowing into the tunnel had no connection with seawater, and the Eurasia Tunnel, which was temporarily closed to traffic, was reopened after the completion of works.

The accident that caused panic was captured on security camera. The footage shows the car, which went out of the driver's control, crashing into the fire department's fire panel, and water flowing into the tunnel from the burst valve as a result of the collision.
