Rescue workers recovered the body of a 10-year-old girl from a river in the southeastern province of Siirt on Tuesday, bringing the death toll of a tragic accident at Alkumru Dam to six.
Dozens of people were picnicking along the banks of the Botan River on Sunday afternoon when the gates of the Alkumru Dam on the river opened, causing the waters to rise quickly.
Rescue workers saved several picnickers, but six people went missing. The bodies of five of the missing people were recovered early on Monday.
Today, 10-year-old Semanur Parlaküşer's body was found in the Botan River, six kilometers away from the dam. Semanur's father and two sisters, ages 6 and 8, were among the six people who were killed. (TZ/Cihan)
