The claim that İmamoğlu stated during his meetings in prison that Mansur Yavaş should be a presidential candidate and conveyed this opinion to both the CHP leadership and representatives of different political parties has made headlines.
It was claimed that Ekrem İmamoğlu, the former Mayor of Istanbul, who is detained in Silivri Prison, has exhibited a different attitude regarding his candidacy for the presidency.
Journalist Can Özçelik, speaking on the Media Critique program aired on TGRT News, stated that in his contacts with the CHP leadership, İmamoğlu did not oppose Mansur Yavaş's candidacy; on the contrary, he expressed his support for this name.
"THE CHP CANDIDATE SHOULD BE MANSUR YAVAŞ"
Fatih Atik, the TGRT News Ankara Representative, who was part of the program, supported the claim, asserting that İmamoğlu expressed this view not only within the party but also in meetings with representatives of different political parties. Atik alleged that İmamoğlu stated, “I also told Özgür Özel. The CHP candidate should be Mansur Yavaş, I support Mansur.”
NOT WARM TO ÖZEL'S CANDIDACY
On the other hand, it has been frequently discussed in recent times that if İmamoğlu remains detained, the candidacy of CHP Chairman Özgür Özel was also a topic of conversation. However, according to the claims put forward, it was suggested that İmamoğlu is not warm to Özel's candidacy. The developments have added a new dimension to the discussions about the presidential candidacy.
