After the April inflation, the 4-month difference was calculated as 14.64% for retirees and 10.51% for civil servants and retired civil servants, while three scenarios stand out for the July raise; if the 6-month inflation falls within the 16-18% range, both retiree and civil servant salaries will see gradual increases, and the lowest monthly payments will rise to between 23,200 TL and 23,600 TL.
According to the data shared by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat), the inflation rate for April was recorded as 4.18%. Along with this figure, an inflation difference of 14.64% for retirees and 10.51% for civil servants and retired civil servants occurred in the period covering the first four months of the year. Data for May and June are expected to be released to determine the final raise rate in July.
SALARY INCREASES ACCORDING TO CURRENT DATA
Social Security Expert Özgür Erdursun calculated the reflection of the 14.64% inflation rate covering the January-April period on salaries as follows:
- The lowest retirement pension at 20,000 TL rises to 22,928 TL,
- A salary of 25,000 TL rises to 28,660 TL,
- A salary of 30,000 TL rises to 34,392 TL,
- A salary of 50,000 TL rises to 57,320 TL,
- A salary of 100,000 TL rises to 114,640 TL.
6-MONTH INFLATION ESTIMATES AND THREE DIFFERENT SCENARIOS
Erdursun detailed the tables that will occur if the 6-month total inflation is at 16%, 17%, or 18% levels, together with the data from the next two months:
- If a 16% inflation difference occurs; the lowest salary reaches 23,200 TL, while salaries at 30,000 TL level rise to 34,800 TL, salaries at 50,000 TL to 57,999 TL, and salaries at 100,000 TL to 115,999 TL.
- If a 17% inflation difference occurs; the base salary of 20,000 TL becomes 23,400 TL, while incomes of 30,000 TL rise to 35,100 TL, payments of 50,000 TL to 58,500 TL, and salaries at 100,000 TL level rise to 117,000 TL.
- If an 18% inflation difference occurs; the lowest monthly payment rises to 23,600 TL. In this scenario, a retiree receiving 30,000 TL gets 35,400 TL, one receiving 50,000 TL gets 59,000 TL, and a retiree receiving 100,000 TL gets 118,000 TL.
FINAL RATES WILL BE DETERMINED AT THE END OF JUNE
The net increase rate to be applied in July will become official with the announcement of the inflation figures for May and June. The raise amount to be received by SSK and Bağ-Kur retirees will become clear with the completion of the six-month inflation data. These technical calculations made by Özgür Erdursun predict the gradual changes in salaries if inflation remains in the 16% to 18% band.
