The first exit polls announced after the general elections in Israel showed that Netanyahu's coalition could not reach a majority in parliament. Following the elections, in which the opposition was expected to win 52 seats and the parties supporting Netanyahu 50 seats, a harsh statement came from Israeli MP Avigdor Lieberman. Calling on Netanyahu to resign, Lieberman addressed members of the Likud Party and urged them to take action within the party.
Calls for action against Netanyahu have also come from within his own Likud party. Israeli MK Avigdor Lieberman, following the first exit polls, called for Netanyahu to resign and urged Likud members to remove the party leader from office.
LIEBERMAN'S CALL FOR NETANYAHU TO RESIGN
The first exit polls announced after the general elections in Israel opened the door to a new debate among political parties. Although Netanyahu's Likud Party appeared to be ahead in the election race, it was notable that the governing coalition could not secure a majority in parliament. Israeli MK Avigdor Lieberman, speaking after the first results, argued that Netanyahu should leave his post. Lieberman did not direct his call only at Netanyahu. He also asked figures within the Likud Party to take action.
"RAISE THE BANNER OF REVOLT WITHIN LIKUD"
In his statement on the election results, Israeli MK Avigdor Lieberman used the following expressions: "Netanyahu must resign. Raise the banner of revolt within Likud and remove him from office."
