BRICS leaders called for the complete withdrawal of Israeli forces from the Gaza Strip and all occupied Palestinian territories, as well as for a permanent and unconditional ceasefire in Gaza.

A joint statement was issued during the BRICS Leaders' Summit held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

CALL FOR UNCONDITIONAL CEASEFIRE IN GAZA

The statement emphasized that the Gaza Strip is an "inalienable part of Palestine" and called for the complete withdrawal of Israeli forces from the Gaza Strip and all occupied Palestinian territories, as well as for a permanent and unconditional ceasefire in Gaza.

The statement expressed "commitment to Syria's sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity," highlighting support for a peaceful and inclusive process "managed and owned by Syria and supported by the United Nations based on Security Council Resolution 2254."

CONDEMNATION OF ATTACKS ON IRAN

The statement condemned "military attacks on Iran" since June 13, 2025, noting that these violate international law and the UN Charter, and expressed concern over the increasing security risks in the Middle East.

The statement condemned the "occupation of part of Syrian territory by Israel," stating that this violates international law and the 1974 Agreement on the Disengagement of Forces, and called for the withdrawal of Israeli forces from Syria.

RESPONSE TO TARIFF MEASURES

The statement emphasized that the increasingly widespread tariff measures threaten the global trading system, noting that tariffs disrupt global supply chains, create uncertainty in international economic and trade activities, and increase economic inequalities.

The statement expressed serious concern over this situation and reiterated support for a rules-based, open, transparent, fair, and inclusive multilateral trading system.

Additionally, the bombings targeting civilians "deliberately" and the attacks on bridges and railway infrastructure in the Bryansk, Kursk, and Voronezh regions of Ukraine on June 1 were condemned. The statement expressed satisfaction with Indonesia and other countries becoming BRICS members.

BRICS SUMMIT IN RIO DE JANEIRO

The 17th BRICS Leaders' Summit is being held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on July 6-7, hosted by the rotating presidency of Brazil.

BRICS, which includes Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa as founding members, holds a significant place in the world economy.
