NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte stated regarding potential conflicts that could be triggered by China's attack on Taiwan, "If Chinese President Xi Jinping decides to attack Taiwan, he will first call his small partner in Moscow, Vladimir Putin."
The NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte spoke in an interview with the US-based New York Times about potential conflicts that could be triggered by China's attack on Taiwan.
"IF CHINA ATTACKS TAIWAN, IT WILL FIRST CALL ITS SMALL PARTNER PUTIN"
Rutte stated that if China attacks Taiwan, it would ask Russia to open a second front against NATO, saying, "There is an increasing awareness; let's not be naive about this. If Chinese President Xi Jinping decides to attack Taiwan, he will first call his small partner Vladimir Putin in Moscow and say, 'Hey, I'm doing this, and I need you to keep NATO busy by attacking its regions in Europe.' Events are likely to unfold this way."
"THERE ARE TWO THINGS WE CAN DO"
Rutte noted that there are two things they can do to deter China and Russia, stating, "One is that if NATO is strong collectively, Russia will not dare to do this. The other is to work with the Indo-Pacific region, as strongly supported by US President Donald Trump."
HE HAD WARNED ALLIED COUNTRIES TO TAKE URGENT ACTION
In previous statements, Rutte referred to the increased defense industry spending during Russia's operations against Ukraine, indicating that the Kremlin could restructure the country's military capacity within five years to threaten NATO, and had warned allies to take urgent action.
