New Party Şanlıurfa MP Mahmut Tanal came together with families who lost their loved ones in front of the hotel where the Grand Kartal Hotel fire, which killed 78 people, occurred. Making a statement in front of the hotel, Tanal called for full justice, stating that everyone responsible for the disaster should be prosecuted.

In front of the Grand Kartal Hotel in Bolu, where 78 people lost their lives, New Party Şanlıurfa MP Atty. Mahmut Tanal, demanding complete justice, said that public officials responsible for the disaster must also be tried. He stated that those responsible cannot be protected by hiding behind the investigation permission and Council of State process.

Calling on the authorities, Tanal used the following statements:

“In cases of flagrante delicto, there is no need for the Council of State's permission to investigate. Because the relevant provisions of the Constitution are clear and explicit. In cases of serious crime and flagrante delicto, there is no need for investigation permission; an investigation is opened directly. There is absolutely no need to hide behind certain formulas and say, ‘Investigation permission has not been issued,’ ‘We are waiting for the Council of State.’ There is a state of flagrante delicto. I invite everyone to duty. As soon as possible, the so-called immunity armor must be removed, and in line with the evidence of flagrante delicto and serious crime, those responsible must be removed from office and an investigation must be immediately conducted against them.”

CALL FOR GRAND KARTAL HOTEL TO BE OPENED AS A “HUMANITY MUSEUM”

Stating that the Grand Kartal Hotel should be preserved so that the disaster experienced is not forgotten, the memories of those who lost their lives are kept alive, and the responsibilities of public officials are recalled, Tanal proposed that the hotel be transformed into a humanity museum, with the consent of the families as well.

Emphasizing that the hotel is a place of shame, Tanal called for the building to be arranged as a public humanity museum and said:

“This is a place of shame. This place must be opened to the public as a humanity museum as soon as possible. If the families consent, this place should be built as a humanity museum in order to keep alive the memory of every deceased person and every soul here; so that people who come here see those memories, so that no other mothers, fathers, or families suffer again, and to remind public officials of their responsibilities.”

“JUSTICE WILL REMAIN INCOMPLETE UNLESS OFFICIALS ARE TRIED”

Emphasizing that justice will remain incomplete as long as all those responsible are not brought before the judiciary, Tanal concluded his statement with the following words:

“Unless the officials are tried, this justice will remain half-done, it will remain incomplete. We want the manifestation of a justice that is not incomplete, but complete.”
