The Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey (CBRT) has revoked the regulation that came into effect in 2022 aimed at bringing physical gold into the financial system. The decision was published in the Official Gazette dated August 22, 2026, and entered into force.

PUBLISHED IN THE OFFICIAL GAZETTE

The "Communiqué on the Revocation of the Communiqué on Bringing Physical Assets in Gold into the Financial System (No. 2022/11) (No. 2026/12)" prepared by the CBRT was published in the Official Gazette.

With the new communiqué, the regulation numbered 2022/11, published in the Official Gazette dated March 14, 2022, and numbered 31778, was repealed.

IN EFFECT FOR MORE THAN 4 YEARS

The repealed regulation specified the principles for bringing the physical gold assets of domestic resident real and legal persons into the financial system. Within the scope of the system, it was made possible to transfer physical gold to gold accounts in banks and to convert them into Turkish lira deposit or participation accounts under specified conditions.

REPEALED AS OF TODAY

The new communiqué published in the Official Gazette consists of only three articles. While the first article states that Communiqué No. 2022/11 is repealed, the second article stipulates that the new decision enters into force on the date of its publication.

Thus, the said communiqué issued in 2022 regarding bringing physical gold into the financial system has been repealed as of August 22, 2026.
