Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz reacted by stating that his speech at a finance summit on December 11, 2025, was turned into disinformation by being cherry-picked and taken out of context. Noting that his speech was about the tax regulation introduced on funds known as “boss funds,” Yılmaz said that a member of parliament also took part in the disinformation. Yılmaz emphasized that the fight against abusers and manipulators will continue.
Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz reacted on his NSosyal account to the way a speech he made last year was brought to the agenda. Stating that politics is above all a matter of honesty and sincerity, Yılmaz described what happened as “an example of a dishonest and insincere approach.”
“CHERRY-PICKED AND TAKEN OUT OF CONTEXT”
In his statement, Yılmaz said, “The fact that my speech at a finance summit on December 11, 2025, was cherry-picked and taken out of context and turned into disinformation is an example of a dishonest and insincere approach.”
“A LAWMAKER ALSO JOINED IN LAST NIGHT”
Noting that the debate was also brought to the agenda by a lawmaker, Yılmaz said:
“A lawmaker also joined last night in the disinformation and attacks whose circles of origin are clear. Anyone with even a minimum level of attention can easily understand that my speech concerned a regulation aimed at abusers being made the subject of misperceptions.”
TAX REGULATION ON PATRON FUNDS
Reminding which regulation his speech was about, Yılmaz drew attention to Law No. 7566 adopted on December 4, 2025.
In the continuation of his statement, Yılmaz said:
“Indeed, with Article 3 of Law No. 7566 adopted on December 4, 2025, and the amendment made to Provisional Article 67 of the Income Tax Law, the existing income tax exemption for profits from funds whose participation shares can be sold only to qualified investors and which are not registered with TEFAS (also called patron funds) was abolished. Thus, profits obtained from these funds also became subject to income tax. My speech at a finance summit on December 11, 2025, was a speech that clarified this legal regulation made on December 4 and emphasized that it would have no negative impact on those other than tax abusers.”
“I WOULD LIKE TO UNDERLINE THE IMPORTANCE OF ECONOMIC COMMUNICATION”
Expressing that he favors sharing clearly and transparently what the regulations and measures taken target, Yılmaz continued as follows:
“I would like to underline once again the importance of economic communication in this sense. In order to prevent misperceptions, regulatory authorities should convey to the public in plain language what the regulations mean, which area they concern or affect. I have advocated this yesterday and today. Otherwise, abusers or those engaging in unlawful transactions will be confused with those operating within the law, and harm will be done to legitimate investors and the system.”
“WE WILL FIGHT ABUSERS TO THE END”
Emphasizing that they will continue to protect capital markets, Yılmaz said, “Today and tomorrow, we will continue to fight abusers and manipulators to the end, and to protect the rights of legitimate investors and our capital markets in general, which are a valuable component of our development efforts. I believe this is our shared responsibility.”
