As a result of laboratory analyses, chemical coloring dye, which is prohibited for use in food, was detected in branded tea bag products of Tirebolu Çaysan and Ada Çay.
It was stated that the companies resorted to this illegal method to hide low-quality or stale tea and to ensure that the tea gives an instant dark color in hot water. Experts warned consumers to avoid teas that immediately release their color when placed in cold water and emphasized that they should check the products they purchase through the Ministry's official website.
