The shotgun horror in Afyonkarahisar topped Turkey's agenda. Arif Sefa Özdemir, 28, living in Bozüyük village of İhsaniye district, traveled from village to village and killed 8 people, 3 of them women. After the massacre, new and grave details about the suspect caught by security forces began to emerge. The moments when the perpetrator carjacked a car at gunpoint during his escape were recorded moment by moment by security cameras.

"I KILLED ALL THOSE PEOPLE, I'LL KILL YOU TOO"

In security camera footage, Arif Sefa Özdemir was seen pointing his gun and cutting off a vehicle, shouting at two people who tried to stop him and spreading terror. In the audio captured by the camera, the suspect was heard threatening, "Don't come closer, I'll shoot. Move aside. Get to the right of the car. I killed all those people, I'll kill you too," and it was determined that he forcibly took the vehicle, got behind the wheel, and sped away. The people whose vehicles were carjacked at gunpoint were learned to be 19-year-old Talha Gökgöz and his friend Kamil Çakmak, who were trying to return home after completing procedures at the military recruitment office.

HE PRESENTED HIMSELF AS A MİT OFFICER

Describing the carjacking horror they experienced, 19-year-old Talha Gökgöz said that while he and his friend Kamil Çakmak were returning from the military recruitment office in Eskişehir and took a break near Çatören Dam, the suspect came up to them. Stating that the suspect introduced himself as a MİT officer, Gökgöz said: "He searched the vehicle, asking whether there were drugs in it. He took our IDs and phones and asked us to remove our SIM cards. Then he pulled a gun from his own vehicle. When he chambered a round, I thought he would shoot us. When he pointed the gun at my friend, I immediately handed over the keys and told him to go so we could get out alive and the incident would not drag on. If we resisted, he would shoot my friend. There were also alcohol bottles in the suspect's vehicle."

"IF YOU'RE FROM MİT, WHAT'S THIS ALCOHOL BOTTLE?"

The other witness who experienced the horror, Kamil Çakmak, stated that during the suspect's search he saw the alcohol bottles and the shotgun in the suspect's own vehicle, and said he asked him, "If you're from MİT, how is there an alcohol bottle in your car?" Çakmak recounted that in response to this question the suspect threatened, "Don't interfere too much, don't poke around if you want," and when he pointed the gun at him, his friend handed over the keys.

THEY FOUND THE PHONES AND CALLED 112

After the suspect drove away in the car he had carjacked, the young men began searching for their phones, which had been thrown around. Gökgöz found the phones among the rocks, and because there was no signal, he climbed to a high point and notified the 112 Emergency Call Center. After the report, gendarmerie teams launched a large-scale operation in the area.

THE CARJACKED VEHICLE GOT STUCK IN MUD

The car with plate number 26 APL 557, which Özdemir carjacked at gunpoint, was found abandoned and stuck in mud in a field in the Seyitgazi district of Eskişehir. It was learned that after the vehicle got stuck in the mud, the suspect continued his escape on foot.
