MEHMET ALİ YÜKSEL APPOINTED TO CHP ISTANBUL PROVINCIAL CHAIRMANSHIP
An important decision was made in CHP regarding the Istanbul Provincial Chairmanship. The party's Central Executive Board (MYK) appointed Mehmet Ali Yüksel as Istanbul Provincial Chairman. CHP Spokesperson Müslim Sarı stated that the decision previously taken by the MYK was notified to the relevant party today. Thus, the Mehmet Ali Yüksel era has begun at the CHP Istanbul Provincial Chairmanship.
GÜRSEL TEKİN'S DUTY ENDED BY COURT RULING
The process experienced at the CHP Istanbul Provincial Chairmanship began after the provincial congress held on October 8, 2023. While Özgür Çelik and his administration were elected at the congress, allegations of irregularities in the election were taken to the judiciary. Istanbul 45th Civil Court of First Instance removed Özgür Çelik and his administration from duty as a precaution on September 2, 2025. The court appointed a five-person temporary committee headed by Gürsel Tekin to manage the provincial chairmanship. Tekin went to the CHP Istanbul Provincial Chairmanship building on September 8, 2025 and assumed his temporary duty.
THE COURT LIFTED THE PRECAUTIONARY MEASURES ON SEPTEMBER 17
While the lawsuit regarding the annulment of the CHP Istanbul Provincial Congress continued, a new development occurred in the judicial process. Istanbul 45th Civil Court of First Instance lifted the precautionary measures previously applied on September 17, 2026. With this decision, the duty of the temporary committee chaired by Gürsel Tekin came to an end.
NEW PROVINCIAL CHAIRMAN DECISION FROM CHP MYK
Following the court's lifting of the precautionary measures, the CHP Central Executive Board appointed Mehmet Ali Yüksel for the Istanbul Provincial Chairmanship. CHP Spokesperson Müslim Sarı, stating that the decision had previously been taken by the MYK, reported that the appointment was notified today.
