Search efforts for Mustafa Erten, the deputy provincial chair of CHP who fell into the Filyos Stream in Karabük and was swept away by the current, continued throughout the night, and the search resumed with boats and thermal drones at first light.

FELL FROM 10 METERS HEIGHT

The incident occurred at the Yesilkoy location on the Karabuk-Zonguldak highway. According to information obtained, the car with license plate 78 ACD 559, traveling from Yenice district towards Karabuk and carrying CHP Karabuk Provincial Vice President Mustafa Erten (72), stopped for a restroom break. While Erten was near the Filyos River, he lost his balance, rolled down from approximately 10 meters height, and fell into the water. Swept away by the current, Erten disappeared from sight within a short time.

SEARCHES CONTINUED THROUGHOUT THE NIGHT

Following the notification, health, gendarmerie, AFAD, UMKE, fire brigade, and search and rescue teams were dispatched to the area. During the night, efforts conducted with thermal drones along the stream bank and on the water failed to locate Erten. With the break of dawn, search operations were intensified again. While AFAD teams continue search activities on the Filyos River with boats, teams are also scanning along the stream.
