The dismissed mayor of Antalya Metropolitan Municipality, Muhittin Böcek's son, Gökhan Böcek, claimed in his testimony under effective remorse that he transported and delivered 1 million Euros to the CHP headquarters upon the request of CHP Deputy Veli Ağbaba. Responding to Böcek's allegations and stating he would file a criminal complaint, Ağbaba said, "He could not explain where he obtained the money he claims to have given, merely asserting that he collected it piece by piece from various sources."

CHP Malatya Deputy Veli Ağbaba responded to the allegations made against him in the statement given by Gökhan Böcek, the son of Muhittin Böcek, the mayor who was removed from his post after being arrested in the investigation into Antalya Metropolitan Municipality, within the scope of effective remorse provisions.

“SLANDERS INCOMPATIBLE WITH REALITY”

In a statement made on his social media account, Ağbaba said: “The statements that have been reflected in the public today as Gökhan Böcek’s effective remorse testimony consist of slanders incompatible with reality. I have never had any relationship, communication, or contact with Gökhan Böcek, neither before the election, after the election, nor at any time in the past. Even his phone number is not saved in my records. I have never known Gökhan Böcek in my life. I met him for the first and only time on September 16, 2025, during my prison visit to his father Muhittin Böcek. Additionally, in his statements, he mentioned a 15-day interval as the date he came to the Headquarters. Investigations have found no entry or exit records showing that he came to the CHP Headquarters within that 15-day date range he specified.

“HE COULD NOT EXPLAIN WHERE HE GOT THE MONEY HE CLAIMS TO HAVE GIVEN...”

When he came to Ankara, he could not say who picked him up from the airport, who dropped him off, how he came to the Headquarters, or who he contacted. He could not explain where he got the money he claims to have given, alleging that he collected it 'in pieces from this person and that.' In other words, a completely imaginary statement with no concrete information that could constitute legal evidence has been served to the public. Slanders are being made against me and my party with a statement that lacks any link in the indispensable chain of evidence and cannot be proven.

“I WILL FILE A CRIMINAL COMPLAINT”

We will not bow down to such slanders and smear operations aimed at political assassination of reputation. I call on those who organized this slander to examine all my account movements, HTS and base station data, and camera recordings of all relevant points. I declare that during this process, I will exercise all my legal rights and file a criminal complaint, as well as sue for slander and damages.”

WHAT DID GÖKHAN BÖCEK SAY?

In his testimony, Böcek claimed that, at Veli Ağbaba’s request, he delivered 1 million Euros to a person he did not know beforehand but whom Ağbaba pointed out at the CHP Headquarters, on the grounds that it would contribute to his father Muhittin Böcek’s candidacy process.

Böcek, explaining that when he went to the headquarters, he entered by saying his name at the reception, said: “They said they were waiting for me upstairs and took me directly to the 6th floor. I encountered this person on the 6th floor. I handed over the money. The person I gave the money to was around 35-40 years old, 1.75-1.80 tall, dark-skinned, average weight. I don’t remember if he had an accent. I saw this person only once. My father had previously told me there might be financial support requests from the headquarters and to help out. Veli Ağbaba had asked me to buy a bus for use during the election period. Then he said they bought that bus. He asked me to provide 1 million euros in aid. When I asked what the money was needed for, he said it was by Özgür Özel’s instruction and to think of it as a candidacy fee. He had no other requests from me. I don’t know if he had any requests from my father. He didn’t tell me anything about this. When I go to Ankara, I usually stay at the Marriott or Sheraton hotels; my records from there can be obtained,” he said.
