CHP Elazığ MP Gürsel Erol, appearing as a guest on Sözcü TV, said regarding the arrest of Fatma Betül Sayan Kaya, who was arrested in the fund investigation: "Could this incident have been covered up? After former Minister of Family and Social Policies Fatma Betül Sayan Kaya was arrested and sent to Silivri Prison as part of the fund investigation conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, the first assessments also began to come from the political front. Stating that Fatma Betül Sayan Kaya is the fourth person to have served as a minister and been arrested throughout the history of the Republic, Gürsel Erol emphasized that the previous three examples occurred after their own parties' periods in power had ended. Erol stated that the arrest, during its own party's time in power, of a figure who had actively served as deputy chairman and had been a former minister was an extremely meaningful threshold in terms of trust in the law and the judiciary.
