The budget of the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization, and Climate Change for the year 2025 has started to be discussed in the Planning and Budget Commission of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM). During the discussions, CHP Elazığ Deputy Gürsel Erol spoke highly of the Minister of Environment, Urbanization, and Climate Change, Murat Kurum, and the team from the Housing Development Administration (TOKİ). FIRST CRITICISM, THEN PRAISEErol stated that they had criticized Minister Kurum regarding the planning and location of TOKİ houses in 2020, saying, "But as time passed, we saw that the process was actually well planned." Erol continued his remarks as follows: "The right things have been done, and a success story has emerged. In 2020, our TOKİ houses were generally preferred in the surrounding areas of the city, in regions where the ground was more solid. We had said, 'Why are you dispersing the city? Why did you distribute the city to the rural areas? You should have built in the center.' We saw in the 2023 earthquake that distributing the population density during an earthquake process was the right decision."
