CHP Deputy Chairman Sezgin Tanrıkulu reacted to the referral of Amedspor and its player Çekdar Orhan to the PFDK by the TFF.
Republican People's Party (CHP) Deputy Chairman Sezgin Tanrıkulu reacted to the Turkish Football Federation's decision to refer Amedspor and its player Çekdar Orhan to the Professional Football Federation Disciplinary Board.
REACTION FROM SEZGİN TANRIKULU
Sezgin Tanrıkulu stated that the "hair braiding" action of Amedspor player Çekdar Orhan was not a random or provocative act, emphasizing that this symbol emerged as a protest against the violence towards women following the murder of a woman by ISIS.
"WE WILL FOLLOW THIS UNLAWFUL PROCESS"
Continuing his remarks, Sezgin Tanrıkulu criticized the decision made regarding Amedspor and its player, stating, "The evaluation of a football player's symbolic action after scoring a goal on the field as ideological propaganda is both a denial of historical reality and the criminalization of solidarity shown against crimes against humanity towards women. This approach is a product of a political and discriminatory reflex rather than a legal one. Football fields should be places where social traumas are not denied, but where peace, memory, and solidarity are strengthened. I call on the Turkish Football Federation and the PFDK to act in accordance with the Constitution, freedom of expression, human rights, and universal sports law. We will follow this unlawful process; we will never give up defending memory, solidarity, and human dignity." he said.
