CHP Spokesperson Müslim Sarı alleged that the election of CHP Group Chairman Özgür Özel was procedurally irregular and claimed it would be annulled by the Turkish Grand National Assembly Presidency. Sarı also argued that the congress cannot be held due to the ongoing legal process and stated that Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu should hold the group meeting.
CHP Spokesperson Müslim Sarı made striking statements claiming that the election of CHP Group Chairman Özgür Özel was procedurally invalid. Sarı, alleging that Özel's group chairmanship would be revoked by the Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM) Presidency, argued that the election process was not conducted in accordance with procedural requirements. Sarı also stated that holding a congress is not possible due to the ongoing legal process and said that Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu should hold a group meeting.
"BECAUSE IT'S AN UNLAWFUL ELECTION"
CHP Spokesperson Müslim Sarı, in his statement to Cumhuriyet newspaper, claimed that Özgür Özel's group chairmanship would be revoked by the TBMM Presidency, saying, "Because it's an unlawful election. The election does not comply with procedural conditions. How many days in advance did you announce it, and with what agenda? Everything has its procedure and form. Moreover, can a group election be held without the knowledge of the party leader? The group chairman works in coordination with the party leader. Does it just happen because you say 'I did it'?"
"WE CANNOT HOLD A CONGRESS, THERE IS A CLEAR LEGAL SITUATION"
Sarı said, "We cannot hold a congress; it's legally impossible. Our colleagues' concern is not the congress; they also know it cannot be held. Their goal is to divide the party, create pressure, and form a new party. Right now, if Party Leader Kılıçdaroğlu says, 'Let's go to the congress,' he cannot hold one. There is a clear legal situation. We are people of the same party. How will we find a way, how will we get out of this tight spot? Let's come and discuss the roadmap together. Mr. Kemal will come and hold the group meeting. Let Mr. Özgür also come, lead, and support it."
