The debate regarding the term "Cuntacı" used by CHP leader Özgür Özel for President Erdoğan has also moved to the General Assembly of the Parliament. During the latest session, the tension between AK Party and CHP lawmakers rose significantly.
Özgür Özel, who was re-elected as the party leader by receiving all valid votes at the 21st Extraordinary Congress of the CHP, stated in his speech addressing the attendees that President Erdoğan's attempts to appoint a trustee to the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality and to my party are coup attempts. Those who attempt this, regardless of whether they are civilian or military, are called a junta, are called coup plotters.
TENSION RISES IN THE PARLIAMENT
These words, which brought the ruling and opposition sides face to face, were also brought to the General Assembly of the Parliament. In the last session, AK Party and CHP deputies used harsh expressions against each other. CHP Group Deputy Chairman Ali Mahir Başarır, who took the floor at the podium, stated, "My party leaders Deniz Baykal and Bülent Ecevit were in prison during the 80 coup. Where was Tayyip Bey? He was playing football in Kasımpaşa."

Following Ali Mahir Başarır, AK Party Group Deputy Chairman Abdülhamit Gül stated, "To call our president, who was elected by the votes of the people, a coup plotter is, at the very least, a sign of ignorance, a failure to recognize Turkey, and a failure to recognize this nation. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has always fought against the junta."
ERDOĞAN FILES A 500 THOUSAND LIRA LAWSUIT
On the other hand, President Erdoğan filed a 500 thousand lira lawsuit for moral damages regarding the 'junta' statements of CHP leader Özel. Erdoğan also filed a criminal complaint.
