In the Izmit district of Kocaeli, the defendant accused of abusing a 5-year-old girl in a mosque restroom stated in court, "Maybe she bent down and looked at me from under the toilet. I definitely did nothing." It was also learned that the 40-year-old defendant is being tried in another court for a similar crime.
On August 29, 2024, in the Izmit district of Kocaeli, it was alleged that I.A. (40) called a 5-year-old girl playing at the Seka Sitesi Mosque to the bathroom and touched her private areas, leading to accusations of abuse. It was claimed that the girl came out of the bathroom crying and told the shop owners who heard the noises about what had happened. Following a report, I.A. was taken into custody.
The suspect, whose statement was taken, was arrested by the court he was brought before and sent to prison. The first hearing of the case opened against the defendant began at the Kocaeli 3rd Heavy Penal Court. In the courtroom, the lawyer of the detained defendant, as well as the victim girl's parents and their lawyers, were present.
"MAYBE SHE BENT DOWN UNDER THE TOILET AND LOOKED AT ME"
The detained defendant I.A. participated in the hearing via SEGBİS (Audio and Video Information System). The defendant stated that he entered the bathroom to relieve himself, saying, "I don't know why such an accusation has been made against me. Maybe she bent down under the toilet and looked at me. I definitely did not do anything."
HE IS ALSO BEING TRIED FOR A SIMILAR CRIME
It was learned that the defendant is also being tried for a similar crime in the criminal court of first instance. The court panel decided to continue the defendant's detention and postponed the hearing.
