After the holiday greeting program, CHP Chairman Özgür Özel walked to Anıtkabir with the citizens accompanying him. Özel placed the ribbon reading "CHP Chairman Özgür Özel" on the wreath of the Anıtkabir Command located at the mausoleum. However, Anıtkabir Command personnel attempted to remove the ribbon. In response, Özel intervened, took back the ribbon that the official had taken, and handed it over to his security guards.
CHP Chairman Özgür Özel, following a large-scale holiday greeting program held at Güvenpark, walked to Anıtkabir together with tens of thousands of citizens. During the visit, which saw intense crowding, Özel recited the National Anthem and Atatürk's Address to the Youth alongside the citizens.
COMMAND CLOSED THE IRON GATES
Özgür Özel and Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mansur Yavaş reached the Anıtkabir Courtyard by passing through the Lion Road. Özel and Yavaş carried a wreath composed of red and white carnations with the inscription 'CHP Chairman Özgür Özel' to the mausoleum. However, the Anıtkabir Command closed the iron gates, not allowing the wreath to be brought into the mausoleum because there was no pre-planned ceremony.
HE REMOVED THE TEXT AND PLACED IT ON THE WREATH
In response to this obstacle, Özgür Özel removed the ribbon text from the wreath, took it in his hand, and entered the mausoleum in this manner. After allowing a very limited number of people into the mausoleum, the Anıtkabir Command closed the iron gates again. Özel placed the paper with the inscription 'CHP Chairman Özgür Özel' in his hand onto the wreath belonging to the Anıtkabir Command located in the mausoleum.
OFFICIALS TOOK THE PAPER BUT...
However, personnel from the Anıtkabir Command moved to take the paper left on the wreath. Intervening in the situation, Özel took the paper from the police officer's hand and handed it over to his own security guards.
