As Italian pasta giant Barilla acquires US-based Goodles for $750 million, the deal has also made the company's employees wealthy. From the sale of the company, which employs only 73 people, dozens of employees emerged as millionaires thanks to the shares they owned.
Barilla, one of the world's largest pasta producers, has acquired Goodles, which has been growing rapidly in the US with products focused on healthy eating. The Italian company paid $750 million in cash for the California-based brand, founded in 2020. The deal also provides for additional payments if specified targets are met.
DOZENS OF MILLIONAIRES EMERGED FROM A COMPANY WITH 73 EMPLOYEES
According to Bloomberg, the sale of Goodles also made the company's employees wealthy. In the company, where only 73 people work, dozens of people with shares and stock purchase rights became millionaires. However, the employees' individual earnings were not disclosed.
$750 MILLION FOR $190 MILLION IN SALES
Founded by Jen Zeszut, Goodles grew in the US market with high-protein and fiber-rich pasta products. Barilla paid about four times the company's annual sales for the company, whose net sales in the 12 months before the acquisition reached $190 million.
Goodles, which counts Hollywood star Gal Gadot among its investors, will continue to operate as an independent brand after the acquisition. Founding CEO Jen Zeszut will remain in her role, and current employees will also stay in their jobs.
