Deniz B., a 30-year-old working as a courier at a jeweler in Kağıthane, Istanbul, disappeared after leaving his workplace with approximately 2 million lira given to him to buy gold and foreign currency. In the investigation launched after the GPS signal on his motorcycle was cut off, it was determined that the suspect had been hiding for 27 days. The moments when Deniz B., caught in a roof gap during an operation by police teams, was taken into custody were captured by a drone camera.
The investigation launched after a jeweler employee in Kağıthane disappeared with approximately 2 million lira concluded 27 days later with a remarkable operation. It was alleged that Deniz B., working as a courier at a jeweler in Şişli, did not return after collecting gold and foreign currency from contracted jewelers with the money he received from the business owner.
LEFT THE WORKPLACE WITH 2 MILLION LIRA
The incident began on Sunday, July 26, at around 15:30. According to the information obtained, the business owner, Mustafa K., gave approximately 2 million lira to Deniz B., who worked as a courier, to collect gold and foreign currency from contracted jewelers.
Deniz B., who left the workplace by motorcycle, went to the designated jewelers and took delivery of the gold and foreign currency. However, after a while, no contact could be made with him.
THE MOTORCYCLE'S GPS SIGNAL SUDDENLY CUT OFF
The first development that made the workplace officials suspicious was the cutting off of the GPS signal on the motorcycle used by Deniz B.
When Mustafa K. could not reach his employee by phone, he contacted the contracted jewelers. In the conversations, it was learned that Deniz B. had taken delivery of the gold and foreign currency. Thereupon, Mustafa K. applied to the police and filed a complaint.
In the examination by police teams, it was determined that the motorcycle's last GPS signal came from in front of a parking lot in Kağıthane Merkez Neighborhood at around 17:30. The teams arriving at the region found the motorcycle abandoned.
THE HOUSE WHERE HE WAS HIDING WAS FOUND 27 DAYS LATER
Kağıthane Public Order Bureau teams used security cameras and field work to track the suspect. As a result of a pursuit lasting about 27 days, it was determined that Deniz B. was hiding in a house in Hürriyet Neighborhood.
Police teams conducting an operation at the address identified Deniz B., Yasemin B., and Mert B. at the house. It was stated that the suspect was caught in the attic space during the operation.
The moments of Deniz B.'s capture were recorded by a drone camera that followed the operation from the air.
THREE SUSPECTS TAKEN INTO CUSTODY
In the operation, besides Deniz B., Yasemin B. and Mert B., who were found at the house, were also taken into custody. In the checks, it was learned that Deniz B. had records for "Threat" and "Insult," and Yasemin B. had records for "Intentional injury," "Threat," and "Insult."
