THE NEW PRIME MINISTER WAS ALSO PRESENT AT THE MEETING
Syrian opposition leader Abu Muhammad al-Jawlani met with Assad regime Prime Minister Muhammad Ghazi al-Jalali in the capital Damascus after the fall of the Assad regime. The President of the Idlib-based Syrian Salvation Government, Muhammad al-Bashir, who is claimed to be appointed as the Prime Minister of the transitional government to be established in Syria, was also present at the meeting.
"THE TRANSITIONAL GOVERNMENT WILL BENEFIT FROM THE OLD ADMINISTRATION"
Al-Jawlani told al-Jalali during the meeting that despite the Syrian Salvation Government starting "from scratch," it has gained experience and achieved significant successes over the past four years. Al-Jawlani also stated that the transitional government would benefit from the experiences of the old administration. After the meeting, al-Jalali announced that he accepted to transfer power to the Idlib-based Syrian Salvation Government.
"PROTECT PUBLIC PROPERTY"
HTS leader Jawlani stated in a statement yesterday, "Approaching public institutions is strictly prohibited. These institutions will remain under the supervision of the former Prime Minister until they are officially transferred. Opening fire into the air is also prohibited. My brothers, free revolutionaries; enter Damascus with your heads bowed and humbly, behave well, and protect them. Protect public institutions and properties. They belong to the great Syrian people, and you are their guardians. Let us come together; let us build the victory of the greatest revolution in recent history together," he said.
WHAT HAPPENED?
On November 27, clashes intensified between regime-opposing armed groups and Bashar al-Assad's forces in Syria. The groups gained dominance in the largest cities such as Aleppo, Idlib, Hama, and Homs between November 30 and December 7. As the groups began to enter the capital Damascus on December 7, with the support of the masses, the regime completely lost control in Damascus and many other regions, leading to its collapse.
