As the war between the US-Israel and Iran enters its 9th day, mutual moves have significantly escalated tensions. Iran's National Security Council Secretary Ali Larijani claimed that a large number of US soldiers were captured during the clashes. Israel, on the other hand, struck three oil depots that are vital to Iran with missiles. Following the attack, large fires were observed in Tehran.
The war between the US-Israel and Iran has entered its 9th day. As the attacks, which have claimed the lives of hundreds, continue with all their violence, a statement from Iran has made headlines.
STATEMENTS FROM IRANIAN OFFICIALS THAT WILL CREATE AGENDA
Ali Larijani, Secretary of the Iranian National Security Council, described US President Donald Trump's military moves against Iran as "a major miscalculation on an international scale." Speaking to Iranian state television, Larijani stated that the Washington administration planned to conduct a war in Iran that would yield results in a short time, but these calculations did not hold.
Larijani claimed that the US believed it could achieve victory in Iran in a short time and aimed to create chaos in the country through assassinations of Iran's religious leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and other high-ranking officials. However, arguing that these plans have failed, Larijani said that the Iranian government and people are united in the face of war.
"US SOLDIERS HAVE BEEN CAPTURED"
Larijani also claimed that "some US soldiers have been captured" since the beginning of the clashes. However, he did not provide details on how many soldiers were captured or under what circumstances they were caught.
The Iranian official argued that the Trump administration was trying to implement the "Venezuela model" in Iran, but this has failed. Larijani expressed that the US is currently "stuck in the quagmire created by its own miscalculations."
ISRAEL HIT 3 OIL DEPOTS IN THE COUNTRY
While the words of Iranian Larijani made headlines, Israeli attacks continued throughout the night. Following the explosions caused by the US-Israel attacks on oil depots in Iran's capital Tehran, intense flames were seen rising from the oil depots.
On social media, images of oil depots burning in Tehran were shared. The flames rising from the oil depots were visible from distant areas of the city.
An unnamed official from the Ministry of Oil, speaking to the Fars News Agency, confirmed that 3 oil depots in Tehran and Karaj were targeted in the attacks.
The Iranian National Oil Refining and Distribution Company announced that the stock in the oil depots hit in Tehran and Alborz provinces during the US-Israel attacks had been reduced to the lowest level in advance and that fuel supply was provided from other sources.
US-ISRAEL ATTACKS ON IRAN
Israel and the US launched a military attack on Iran on February 28 while negotiations were ongoing between the Tehran and Washington administrations.
Iran responded with attacks on targets it identified in some regional countries, including Qatar, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), and Bahrain, where US bases are located, in addition to Israel.
In the US-Israel attacks, many high-ranking officials, including Iranian leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, were killed.
Iran's Health Ministry spokesperson, Hossein Kermanpur, announced that 926 people had lost their lives in the US-Israel attacks.
