A couple lost their lives when their car crashed into a wall in the Demirkapı Tunnel connecting Antalya and Konya.
CAR OUT OF CONTROL CRASHED INTO WALL
The accident occurred in the Demirkapı Tunnel on the D-687 highway, within the borders of Başlar Neighborhood in the İbradı district. According to information obtained, the light commercial vehicle with license plate 07 GJ 370, driven by Mehmet Durdu, who was heading towards Antalya, went out of control inside the Demirkapı Tunnel and crashed into the wall of the emergency bay.
ELDERLY COUPLE DIED AT THE SCENE
In the accident, the driver Mehmet Durdu (67) and his wife Emine Durdu (67) lost their lives at the scene. After examinations by the Gendarmerie Crime Scene Investigation teams, the forensic physician, and the public prosecutor, the couple's bodies were sent to the Antalya Forensic Medicine Institution.
The car in which the couple lost their lives was completely wrecked.
While gendarmerie traffic teams took necessary precautions inside the tunnel, traffic was controlled in a single lane until the vehicle was removed from the road.
