It has emerged that the attacker, who killed 4 people and injured 8 others in Mersin, started a series of murders after killing his ex-wife. The death toll thus rose to 5.

HE BEGAN THE ATTACKS BY KILLING HIS EX-WIFE

The toll has worsened in the armed attacks carried out by a person at different locations in Mersin after killing his ex-wife. According to information obtained, Metin Ö. (37) shot and killed his ex-wife Arzu Özden (32) in the Darıpınarı neighborhood of the Çamlıyayla district.

HE KILLED 4 MORE PEOPLE

After the incident, Metin Ö. fled and later came to a restaurant owned by Sabri Pan in the Kadelli Dörtler neighborhood of Tarsus district in a vehicle with license plate 01 B 9171, opening fire with a gun. In the attack, restaurant owner Sabri Pan died at the hospital he was taken to, while employee Ahmet Ercan Can died at the scene. The attacker continued escaping by vehicle, shooting and killing Yusuf Oktay, one of the youths herding animals in the Kaburgediği neighborhood, and then truck driver Abdullah Koca near his home in Yenimahalle. It was learned that 8 people along the route were also injured during the suspect's attacks.

HE IS BEING SEARCHED EVERYWHERE

The injured were taken to hospitals, primarily Tarsus State Hospital, by ambulances for treatment. After the incidents, numerous gendarmerie and health teams were dispatched to the area, and security forces took precautions. It was reported that a helicopter-supported operation has been launched to capture the fleeing suspect.

The bodies of those who lost their lives in the violence were brought to the Tarsus State Hospital morgue, while the investigation into the incident continues.
