The Turin Labor Court has made a decision regarding the salary dispute between Cristiano Ronaldo and Juventus. The amount of 9.8 million euros that Juventus is obligated to pay Ronaldo has been finalized.

A critical phase has been completed in the long-standing salary dispute between Cristiano Ronaldo and Juventus. According to Corriere dello Sport, the Turin Labor Court did not accept Juventus's appeal against the previously issued arbitration decision. Thus, the obligation for Juventus to pay 9.8 million euros to Ronaldo has been finalized.

THE FINAL ACT IN THE "RONALDO LETTER" CASE

The dispute is based on the salary deferral/waiver agreement that Juventus made with its players during the pandemic period in 2021. The document, publicly known as the "Ronaldo Letter," anticipated the payment of 19.5 million euros from the Portuguese star's gross salary at a later date. The report stated that this amount was not recorded in the club's balance sheet and that the payment was not made after Ronaldo's transfer to Manchester United.

ARBITRATION AMOUNT REDUCED FROM 19.5 TO 9.8

Ronaldo initiated the official process against Juventus in September 2023. While the case was taken to arbitration, in April 2024, the arbitration panel ruled that instead of 19.5 million euros, 9.8 million euros should be paid. The decision highlighted that Juventus did not have the intention to "knowingly mislead" the player.

COURT REJECTED THE APPEAL, CASE CLOSED

Juventus appealed to the Turin Labor Court against the arbitration decision, but the court rejected the club's appeal. With this decision, the obligation to pay 9.8 million euros has been legally finalized, and the case has effectively been closed.
