In Antalya, detained defendant Hızır Çelik, accused of killing his ex-wife Hanım Biçer, defended himself in the first hearing by saying, "My vision went dark."
The incident occurred on September 11, 2025, in the Muratpaşa district of Antalya. The trial began for Hızır Çelik, who is accused of killing his divorced wife Hanım Biçer at home after an argument by strangling her with her scarf and pressing a pillow against her face. After the incident, the defendant surrendered and was arrested by the court.
"I COVERED HER FACE WITH A PILLOW TO AVOID SEEING IT"
Defendant Çelik, who made his defense in the first hearing of the case at the Antalya 1st Heavy Penal Court, claimed the incident was not planned. Çelik, alleging he lost control during the argument, said, "My vision went dark, I covered her face with a pillow. I did it to avoid seeing her face."
CONFESSED TO THE MURDER, BROKE THE PHONE AND THREW IT IN THE CREEK
The defendant stated that he waited in the bathroom after the incident and when he came out, he saw his ex-wife lying motionless and realized she was dead. Çelik then said he took the victim's mobile phone, and when he couldn't unlock it, he broke the phone and threw it into the creek.
"I CONSIDERED SUICIDE"
Çelik recounted that he did not consider surrendering after the incident, planned to commit suicide, but was directed by his family to go to the police and surrender.

During the hearing, the victim's brother, Resul Biçer, alleged that the defendant had previously followed and threatened his sister. Biçer claimed the murder was premeditated and stated that he had filed a complaint against the defendant.
DEMAND FOR AGGRAVATED LIFE IMPRISONMENT
In the prosecutor's indictment, it was requested that the defendant be punished for "intentional killing of a woman and ex-spouse" and "theft by benefiting from the person's death." The court panel adjourned the hearing to a later date to complete the deficiencies in the file.
