Deputy Minister of Interior Bülent Turan: Those who do wrong should step aside

Deputy Minister of Interior Bülent Turan made striking statements regarding the recent debates within the AK Party. Stating that President Erdoğan will not forgive those who do wrong, Deputy Minister of Interior Turan called on figures about whom there are allegations to resign from their posts. Deputy Minister of Interior Turan said, "Those who do wrong should step aside."

Deputy Minister of the Interior Bülent Turan noted that those who do wrong should not put the AK Party in a difficult position, drawing attention to President Erdoğan's stance on the matter.

“THOSE WHO DO WRONG SHOULD STEP ASIDE”

Deputy Minister of the Interior Bülent Turan pinned badges on newly joined party members at a program held in front of the AK Party Lapseki District Presidency. Speaking at the program, Deputy Minister of the Interior Turan touched on recent debates and said that those who do wrong within the party must take responsibility. Arguing that a political step should be taken without waiting for judicial and inspection processes to be completed, Deputy Minister of the Interior Turan used the following statements: “We are as successful and honorable as we carry President Erdoğan's burden. We must carry President Erdoğan's burden. I think one must take a step and say ‘I am asking to be excused,’ without necessarily looking to the judiciary, the DDK report, or such-and-such a study. Whoever does wrong, my friend, should not bring down what these people have earned. You have held many posts; now step aside so that we respect you more. Step aside so you do not make these people lose face. Why should we be burdened by the wrong you have done and be embarrassed before these people? Those who do wrong should step aside. This is our political decision. Of course, the judiciary may exonerate or punish. The BDDK report may exonerate or punish. Those are technical matters. But politically, we must do our duty as soon as possible. We are not on either pan of the scale, and we cannot be. We must be at the very center of the scale, at the very center of justice.”

“I KNOW THAT PRESIDENT ERDOĞAN DOES NOT FORGIVE THOSE WHO DO WRONG”

Deputy Minister of the Interior Turan, also touching on the recent fund issue, stated that the AK Party is a large political structure and that there may be people within this structure who do wrong. Emphasizing that he has known President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan for many years, Deputy Minister of the Interior Turan expressed that President Erdoğan will take the necessary step against those who do wrong. Deputy Minister of the Interior Turan said the following in his speech: “Of course, there may be those among us who do wrong. We are talking about a very large structure. You receive 50 percent of the vote; you have been continuing for 25 years. There have been agendas in the recent period that upset and tired us. But I say with honor that I am a man who knows President Tayyip Erdoğan. I have been by his side since my childhood. I am a man who knows that he does not forgive those who do wrong. I am a man who knows that his scalpel is firm. When the time comes, we will see together what he will do, God willing.”

“THE JUDICIARY HAS NOT YET COMPLETED MANY OF ITS WORK”

Deputy Minister of the Interior Turan, stating that the debates within the party should be kept limited to certain individuals, opposed putting an entire political movement under suspicion. Recalling that the State Supervisory Board (DDK) report has not yet been completed and that judicial processes are ongoing, Deputy Minister of the Interior Turan said they wanted the people found guilty to be revealed. Deputy Minister of the Interior Turan used the following statements: “There were camera recordings. But square by square, they stood by their own friends. But we are human; when someone around President Erdoğan does wrong, today there are advisers, politicians, businesspeople, and bureaucrats who have been arrested. We did not say, ‘Even if our friend does wrong, we will stand by them.’ We are together in order not to do wrong. We said that if we have anyone who does wrong, we will do our best. The DDK report has not come out yet. Let the report come out first. We will see who is who. The judiciary has not yet completed many of its works. Let it complete them; that is, far from protecting the guilty or being afraid, we want even more for whoever is guilty to be revealed as soon as possible, so that we can continue on our way without tarnishing the clean memory of 25 years. Why should a large mass remain under suspicion because of the personal mistake made by three men, by five wrong people, because of the wrong they have done?”
