İYİ Party Chairman Müsavat Dervişoğlu spoke for the first time regarding the court's absolute nullity decision against the CHP. Dervişoğlu said, 'This approach, which disregards the decision of the YSK, the sole and final authority on these matters according to our Constitution, and essentially violates our Constitution, poses a threat to all political parties, including the ruling party.'
The İYİ Party Presidential Council and Parliamentary Group held an extraordinary meeting at the party headquarters under the leadership of Chairman Müsavat Dervişoğlu. Speaking after the meeting, Dervişoğlu commented for the first time on the Ankara Regional Court of Appeals 36th Civil Chamber's absolute nullity decision regarding the reinstatement of Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu as CHP Chairman.
"NEITHER THE REWARD NOR THE PUNISHMENT CAN BE GIVEN BY ANYONE OTHER THAN OUR NATION"
In his statement, Dervişoğlu said, "The decision regarding the 38th Ordinary Congress of the Republican People's Party, held on November 4-5, 2023, has been announced at the end of a legal process initiated two years after the congress. This decision targets not only a political party but also Turkey's 75-year multi-party political system, the right to vote and be elected, our democracy, the law, and the present and future of our country. The foundation of democracy lies in national sovereignty, equality, and justice. In full and complete democracies, political parties are established by the will of the people and continue their path with the will of the people. On this path, neither the reward nor the punishment can be given by anyone other than our nation. Regardless of being in power or opposition, all political parties are parts of this country's shared political heritage. However, in the one-man regime we have been dragged into with the Presidential Government System, the cause of the pressures, poverty, corruption, and the lawlessness we face today is this very system. The methods to which the People's Alliance, which constantly invokes the will of the nation, stoops to maintain its power have breached the battlements of our legal system and the fortress of justice," he stated.
"I DECLARE THAT THE İYİ PARTY IS ON THE SIDE"
Stating that the matter is not just about the congress of a single political party, Dervişoğlu said, "This issue is one that could have serious consequences for our electoral system and constitution. At this historic moment, I, Müsavat Dervişoğlu, once again express and declare before you that the İYİ Party is on the side. The İYİ Party is on the side of parliamentary democracy, the rule of law, a fair state, a fair judiciary, and a fair administration against this one-man regime. This approach, which disregards the decision of the Supreme Election Council, the sole and final authority on these matters according to our constitution, and effectively violates our constitution, is a threat to all political parties, including the ruling party. Such a step, which could amount to judicial tutelage, is an antidemocratic coup against the will of the nation, disregarding our relevant laws starting from our Constitution. The history of the Republic is full of examples regarding the fate of those who try to put obstacles in the way of the nation's will. The Turkish nation has ultimately punished every attempt, whether uniformed or civilian, that seeks to impose a mortgage on constitutional rights and its unshakable will, protecting its sacred right," he said.
"STABILITY MEANS THE CITIZEN BEING SURE OF THEIR TOMORROW"
Dervişoğlu further stated, "The government, which speaks of stability at every opportunity, cannot be unaware that this lawlessness will lead to complete instability in our country. Stability means the citizen being sure of their tomorrow. It means the merchant being sure of the exchange rate, the student of their future, the woman of her life and safety, the civil servant of making ends meet, and the farmer and retiree of getting their due rights. Stability means being able to pass on what we received from our grandfather to our grandchildren as an inheritance."
