In Arnavutköy, Istanbul, a man named Davut Gökkaya, who had a restraining order against him, spread terror after learning that his ex-wife, whom he had divorced a year ago, had remarried. The attacker raided the house with a pump-action shotgun, murdered his ex-wife and her 18-year-old son, then turned the same weapon on himself. The other child of the family narrowly escaped death by hiding behind a sofa.

The Boğazköy neighborhood of Arnavutköy district became the scene of a horrific family massacre that shook all of Turkey. According to available information, the incident resulted in the deaths of three people following an armed attack by a enraged ex-husband.

"HE RAIDED THE HOUSE WHEN HE HEARD SHE REMARRIED"

Davut Gökkaya, who had a restraining order issued by judicial authorities, learned that his ex-wife Türkan Gökkaya, from whom he divorced a year ago, had married someone else. Allegedly unable to accept this situation, the individual went to his ex-wife's house with a pump-action shotgun.

The enraged attacker began firing repeatedly with the gun he brought as soon as he entered the house. After first shooting his ex-wife Türkan Gökkaya, the individual then targeted his 18-year-old son Emin Gökkaya.

SURVIVED BY HIDING BEHIND THE SOFA

The other son of the family, who was present in the house during the massacre, came face to face with death. Realizing that his father was turning to shoot him as well, the child managed to escape the attacker's line of sight by hiding behind the sofa by chance. Unable to achieve his goal, Davut Gökkaya finally ended his own life by shooting himself with the same pump-action shotgun.

THE FAMILY'S HEARTBREAKING PAST

With a wave of panic sweeping the neighborhood following the gunshots, numerous police and health teams were dispatched to the scene. In the initial examinations by health teams at the scene, it was confirmed that Türkan Gökkaya, her son Emin Gökkaya, and the attacker Davut Gökkaya had lost their lives. After detailed work by crime scene investigation teams, the bodies were taken to the Forensic Medicine Institute morgue for autopsy procedures.

As the investigation continues in multiple directions, another heartbreaking detail about the family's past has emerged. According to information obtained, it was learned that one of the family's children had also died in a tragic traffic accident in previous years.
