The end is near in the drug investigation trial of former Fenerbahçe President Sadettin Saran and presenter Ela Rümeysa Cebeci. The pair, who had drug evidence found in forensic tests, failed to convince the prosecution by claiming their messages were "movie dialogues." They face more than 10 years in prison each.
The indictment prepared within the scope of the investigation conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office was sent to the Heavy Penal Court. The investigation began on December 18, 2025, with the confessions of a secret witness codenamed "Kanarya." During the process, examinations on Cebeci's mobile phone, who was arrested for 4 months and then released, deepened the connection with Sadettin Saran, who was released under judicial control, and suspicions regarding drug trafficking.
CORRESPONDENCES REVEALED
According to the indictment, serious digital evidence regarding drugs was found on Cebeci's phone. The server's phone, which made searches such as "THC content e-cigarette" and "Elf THC Strawberry Mango Haze" in its internet history, also contained a translation record stating "I really miss Miami and smoking THC."
The conversations the duo had via WhatsApp formed the most critical part of the indictment:
Cebeci: Don't forget to bring it when you come, but in its natural, unrolled state
Saran: I don't have any like that
Cebeci: But you had planted it, the law is being prepared for legalization, I told you, plant it immediately, in fact, buy land and sell it for construction
Cebeci: Am I Escobar, where would I find it, you were growing it, boss, let's hang out and smoke a few joints
Saran: We smoked too much
Cebeci: My head is still nice, what was that stuff?" and "That was amazing, pick it from the garden and bring it to me next time"
Additionally, it was determined that Cebeci requested substances in conversations with other people, saying "Don't forget my THC, I want to get high."
TESTS CAME BACK POSITIVE, DEFENSES COLLAPSED
In hair analyses conducted by the Forensic Medicine Institute, both Saran's and Cebeci's cocaine tests came back positive. In his defense, Cebeci claimed that he only used marijuana abroad and that the cocaine allegations were unfounded. He alleged that statements like "Am I Escobar?" were humorous dialogues referring to a TV series they watched.
Saran, on the other hand, argued that with the message "We drank too much," they were actually talking about a special "wine" from Croatia, while claiming that other messages were a "movie line." He attributed the cocaine residue in his hair to past cancer treatment and medical drugs.
HERE IS THE SOUGHT SENTENCE
According to the news in Sabah; The prosecutor's office stated that it was established that the suspects supplied drugs to each other and that the "humor" defense did not reflect the truth, and requested that both individuals be sentenced to imprisonment for no less than 10 years for the crime of "Drug or Stimulant Substance Trafficking or Supplying."
