After the lowest pension has been raised to 14,469 TL, retirees have turned their attention to the holiday bonuses. This year, Ramadan Feast will be celebrated on March 30, and Sacrifice Feast will be on June 6. With the first holiday of the year approaching, there are discussions in the corridors about the possibility of an increase in the bonuses.

Details regarding retirement bonuses have started to become clearer. As the expectation for an increase in bonuses for citizens who have gained the right to retire rises, the timing of the payments is also a matter of curiosity. According to expert opinions, the likelihood of an increase in holiday bonuses is quite high.

EXPECTATIONS FOR AN INCREASE IN BONUSES ARE RISING

Work on the bonuses, which retirees and citizens waiting to retire are eagerly anticipating, is continuing at full speed. The holiday bonuses, which were first implemented in 2018 at 1,000 TL, were increased from 2,000 TL to 3,000 TL in 2024. In the first half of 2025, retirees received a 15.75% increase. If the holiday bonuses are increased by the same rate, the bonuses will rise to 3,472 TL.

When holiday bonuses were first given in 2018, they corresponded to about half of the lowest pension. With the increases in salaries, the ratio of the bonus to the salary has decreased. Currently, unless there is an additional legal regulation, retirees will again receive bonuses at the rate of 3,000 TL. Therefore, a new legal regulation is needed to increase the holiday bonuses.

WORK IS BEING DONE FOR FOOD SUPPORT FOR RETIREES

Among retirees, there is a prevailing expectation for new support regulations, especially related to food expenses. It is known that the Minister of Labor and Social Security, Vedat Işıkhan, has stated that discussions with banks on this matter are ongoing.
