Double hike in fuel! The biggest price increase of recent times is coming.

11.08.2026 09:40

One of the highest increases in fuel in recent times is at the door. While a hike of 2 TL for gasoline and 6.85 TL for diesel is required, 75 percent of the increase will be reflected at the pump due to the automatic tax adjustment system. Accordingly, a hike of 1.50 TL for gasoline and approximately 5.13 TL for diesel is expected, while the liter of diesel will approach the 90 TL limit in some cities.

One of the highest single-time increases in fuel prices in recent times is on the horizon.

75 PERCENT OF THE HIKE WILL BE REFLECTED AT THE PUMP

Due to fluctuations in global markets and increases in product prices, the fuel sector has come under significant cost pressure. According to Olcay Aydilek, who reported on the developments, under current conditions, a record increase of 2 TL for gasoline and 6.85 TL for diesel has become necessary. However, thanks to the fuel price stabilization mechanism (eşel mobil) regulation, which came into effect on August 1 and will remain valid until September 30, citizens will not feel the full impact of this increase. Under the regulation, 25 percent of the price increase will be covered by the state through a reduction in special consumption tax (ÖTV), while the remaining 75 percent will be directly reflected in retail prices.

A HIKE OF 1.50 LIRA FOR GASOLINE AND 5.13 LIRA FOR DIESEL

While it is noted that the fuel price stabilization system will end on October 1, according to current calculations, the net increase expected to be reflected at the pump will be 1.50 TL for gasoline and approximately 5.13 TL for diesel.

HERE IS THE EXPECTED SCENARIO IN THE THREE METROPOLITAN CITIES AFTER THE HIKE

Particularly, the massive 5.13 TL increase expected for diesel will completely change fuel price boards in major cities. Although there are differences due to distribution companies and intercity transportation costs, prices are expected to reach significant levels after the new hikes. On the European side of Istanbul, the liter price of gasoline will rise from 69.92 TL to 71.42 TL, while diesel will increase from 80.07 TL to 85.20 TL per liter. On the Anatolian side of Istanbul, gasoline will rise from 69.77 TL to 71.27 TL, and diesel from 79.93 TL to 85.06 TL. In the capital Ankara, drivers will start paying 72.39 TL per liter for gasoline and 86.32 TL per liter for diesel. A similar scenario will unfold at stations in Izmir, with gasoline reaching 72.67 TL per liter and diesel reaching 86.59 TL per liter.

DIESEL WILL APPROACH 90 LIRA

With these expected increases taking effect, diesel prices will come very close to the 90 TL limit in some Anatolian cities where transportation and dealer costs are higher.
