In the Silifke district of Mersin, 17-year-old Alperen Bayraktar, who was in danger of drowning in the sea, lost his life after a 4-day struggle for survival in the hospital.

Alperen Bayraktar (17), who was in danger of drowning in the sea in the Silifke district of Mersin and passed away 4 days later in the hospital, was bid farewell on his final journey in Ankara.

On June 1 in the Silifke district of Mersin, students Cemal Emre Kurt (17) and Mehmet Erdem Akdeniz (17) from the Sincan Erkunt Apprenticeship Training School, along with Alperen Bayraktar, began to struggle in the water after entering the sea at the beach of the Yıldırım Beyazıt Camp, which is affiliated with the Provincial Directorate of Youth and Sports.

2 PEOPLE HAD DIED

Alperen Bayraktar was rescued by citizens and taken to the hospital. Mehmet Erdem Akdeniz and Cemal Emre Kurt, who were swept away, were pulled from the water by the Coast Guard Command teams and taken to Silifke State Hospital by ambulances. Despite all the interventions by doctors, Akdeniz and Kurt could not be saved. The funeral of Cemal Emre Kurt was held on June 2 in his hometown of Çorum, while Mehmet Erdem Akdeniz's funeral was buried the day before yesterday at Sincan Cemetery.

LOST HIS 4-DAY FIGHT FOR LIFE

Alperen Kurt, who was undergoing treatment in the hospital, passed away yesterday after a 4-day struggle for life. A funeral prayer was held for Alperen Bayraktar at the Sincan Cemetery Mosque at noon. The funeral was attended by the Provincial Director of National Education Yaşar Koçak, Sincan District Governor Levent Kılıç, District National Education Director Alican Kılıç, General Director of Religious Education of the Ministry of National Education Ahmet İşleyen, as well as students and teachers. Father Ahmet Bayraktar struggled to stand during the funeral. Bayraktar's body was buried in Sincan Cemetery with tears after the prayer.
