The Istanbul Governor's Office announced that face-to-face education activities at all public and private educational institutions throughout the city have been suspended for one day due to adverse weather conditions.

The rainy weather negatively affecting transportation and daily life in Istanbul led the Governor's Office to take new measures. As part of the decisions taken to reduce the risks citizens may encounter, restrictions were imposed on educational activities, the working arrangements of public personnel, and the use of two-wheeled vehicles.

ONE-DAY BREAK IN EDUCATION

According to the Governor's Office decision, no face-to-face classes will be held in all public and private educational institutions in Istanbul on Thursday, October 15, 2026.

The break in education will cover only Thursday.

ADMINISTRATIVE LEAVE FOR PREGNANT AND DISABLED PERSONNEL

Pregnant, disabled, veteran, and disabled veteran employees working in public institutions will also be considered on administrative leave on the same day.

In addition, female public personnel with children under the age of 8 will also be included in the leave. However, this practice will not apply to female personnel working in health, security, and precipitation response units.

Working mothers with a disabled child under the age of 8 will be considered on leave regardless of their occupational group.

TRAFFIC BAN FOR MOTORCYCLES

Due to adverse weather conditions, a traffic restriction has also been imposed on motorcycles and similar two-wheeled vehicles.

The ban, which will begin across Istanbul on Wednesday, October 14 at 21:00, will continue until a new instruction is issued by the Governor's Office.
