It is noted that similar tremors may continue as Japan is located in an earthquake zone.

A 6.2 magnitude earthquake that struck the southern Tokachi region of Japan's Hokkaido prefecture was reported as a "strong tremor" in the international press. The earthquake occurred early in the morning local time, at a depth of approximately 80 kilometers.

According to foreign media, the epicenter of the earthquake was recorded about 18 kilometers west of the town of Sarabetsu in Hokkaido. The United States Geological Survey (USGS) measured its magnitude at 6.1, while the Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) announced that no tsunami warning was issued.

Initial assessments reported no casualties or major damage from the earthquake. However, experts warned that aftershocks may continue in the region.

SEISMIC ACTIVITY CONTINUES IN THE REGION

It was noted that numerous small and medium-sized tremors have been recorded around Hokkaido in recent days, indicating an increase in seismic activity in the area.

Meanwhile, Japan was recently shaken by a major earthquake of magnitude 7.7, which heightened concerns about the risk of a "megaquake" in the country.

NO TSUNAMI RISK BUT WARNINGS CONTINUE

Although authorities stated there is no tsunami risk from the latest earthquake, they emphasized that the public should remain cautious about aftershocks. Japan frequently experiences such tremors as it lies on the Pacific Ring of Fire, one of the world's most active seismic zones.
