President Recep Tayyip Erdogan called Asuman Sen, who won the Menderes Deputy Mayor election, to congratulate her. During the meeting, which was also attended by AK Party Izmir Provincial Chairman Bilal Saygili and party members, Sen told President Erdogan, "We believed and we succeeded," while Erdogan wished Sen success in her new role.

During the conversation, which was also attended by AK Party Izmir Provincial Chairman Bilal Saygili and party members, Sen told Erdogan, "We believed and we succeeded," while President Erdogan wished her success in her new role.
REPUBLIC ALLIANCE CANDIDATE
After the Mayor of Menderes district in Izmir, Ilkay Cicek, was suspended from duty by the Ministry of Interior, the deputy mayor election concluded with the victory of the Republic Alliance's candidate, Asuman Sen.
CONGRATULATORY PHONE CALL FROM ERDOGAN
Following the election, Erdogan called Asuman Sen to congratulate her on her success. During the call, Sen, who said they were in Menderes, thanked President Erdogan.
Erdogan addressed Sen, saying, "I wish your successes to continue increasing, God willing."
In response to Sen's words, "We believed and we succeeded," Erdogan stated that he also shared the joy of the election and said, "God willing, let us come together with you at the office in Ankara as well."
Sen also replied to Erdogan, "God willing, Mr. President, I will come as soon as possible. Thank you very much; even hearing your voice is wonderful." At the end of the conversation, Erdogan conveyed his best wishes to Sen once again.
After the phone call, AK Party Izmir Provincial Chairman Bilal Saygili also addressed President Erdogan and joined the conversation.
WON WITH 15 VOTES IN AN ELECTION LASTING FOUR ROUNDS
The deputy mayor election in the Menderes Municipal Council concluded in four rounds. In the first round, Asuman Sen received 12 votes, Baris Gursoy 10, CHP candidate Mehmet Ali Akar 5, and independent candidate Mustafa Ozturk 1 vote.
In the second round, Sen received 10 votes, Gursoy 9, Akar 5, and Ozturk 1, while 3 votes were deemed invalid. In the third round, from which independent candidate Ozturk withdrew, Sen received 13 votes and Gursoy 10.
In the final round, where the candidate with the most votes would be elected, Asuman Sen was elected deputy mayor with 15 votes, while Baris Gursoy remained at 12 votes.
PROVINCIAL CHAIRMEN ALSO FOLLOWED THE ELECTION
AK Party Izmir Provincial Chairman Bilal Saygili, MHP Izmir Provincial Chairman Veysel Sahin, CHP Izmir Provincial Chairman Utku Gumrukcu, and YENI Party Izmir Provincial Chairman Cagatay Guc also attended the election.
Speaking after the election, Asuman Sen thanked the council members and party organization who supported her, stating that they came to serve Menderes.
