Vice President Cevdet Yilmaz answered a journalist's question about the election date following the announcement of the Medium-Term Program. Yilmaz stated that the program was prepared on the assumption that the elections would be held on time and pointed to the spring or summer months of 2028. Regarding a possible early election, he said the decision lies at the discretion of the Parliament.

Vice President Cevdet Yilmaz answered questions from the press after the announcement of the 2027-2029 Medium-Term Program (MTP), which outlines Turkey's economic roadmap for the next three years.

One of the topics that came up at the meeting was the election calendar. Yilmaz said that while preparing the program, they did not operate on the assumption of an early election.

POINTED TO 2028

Stating that they prepared the MTP with the prediction that elections will be held on time, Yilmaz said, "We prepared this program thinking that the elections will take place on time, towards the spring or summer of 2028. We did not engage in a speculative assumption."

Thus, Yilmaz indicated that the government's economic program does not include an early election assumption.

POINTED TO THE PARLIAMENT FOR EARLY ELECTION

Also speaking about the possibility of moving the election date forward, Yilmaz emphasized that the decision-making authority on this matter is the Grand National Assembly of Turkey.

Yilmaz stated, "These are matters for our Parliament to decide. If it is to bring the election forward a bit, that is up to the Parliament's discretion. We thought it would not be right to make an assumption beforehand."

With the Vice President's statement, it became clear that the 2027-2029 MTP was prepared based on the scenario that elections will be held on time, while it was emphasized that the decision for a possible early election belongs to the Parliament.
