President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan stated at the ceremony for the 158th anniversary of the Turkish Red Crescent that 'critical drugs derived from plasma will be produced at the Pro Türk factory, whose foundation was laid in Çubuk,' adding, 'We will include Turkey in the class of countries producing critical drugs from plasma and end foreign dependency on these medications.'
Those who attack our geography like sharks smelling blood will ultimately account for the blood they shed; the cry of the oppressed that shakes the heavens will sooner or later seize the tyrants. Those who follow Hitler's path today should not forget that if they continue like this, their fate will be like that of other tyrants in history. Türkiye, while extending a helping hand to the oppressed, will continue to do its utmost to ensure that the massacre network faces justice before law and history.
"THE LARGEST DISASTER RESPONSE IN HISTORY WAS CARRIED OUT IN THE FEBRUARY 6 EARTHQUAKES"
In the February 6 earthquakes, the Red Crescent conducted the largest disaster response operation in its history. The Red Crescent has strengthened its disaster preparedness vision with the lessons learned from the century's disaster, and rebuilt its capacity in a stronger way. It distributed over 400 million hot meals and packaged food in the disaster zone during our disaster campaigns. In addition to tens of thousands of tents and blankets, it supported the shelter services of our AFAD.
With mobile kitchens, mobile ovens, mobile soup kitchens, and catering vehicles, it ensured the flawless provision of nutrition services in the field. Comprehensive projects were carried out in health, protection, shelter, water, and sanitation areas through community service centers established in our 6 most earthquake-affected provinces.
"CASH SUPPORT WAS PROVIDED TO OVER 10,000 TRADESPEOPLE AND FARMERS"
Within the scope of tradespeople and farmer support programs, cash support was provided to over 10,000 of our tradespeople and farmers. On this occasion, I once again commemorate our citizens who lost their lives in the earthquake with mercy. I thank all our institutions, volunteer organizations, and benefactors who contributed to the search and rescue efforts, the reconstruction of our cities, and the revival of our earthquake region, together with the Red Crescent and our AFAD.
Our Red Crescent, which set a new record last year with over 3 million units of blood donations, continues its domestic and national investments in the health sector successfully. The Pro Türk factory, which we will lay the foundation for shortly via a live connection in our Çubuk district, covering an area of 130,000 square meters, is one of these. With the Pro Türk project, we will now produce critical drugs derived from blood in our own country.
We will use these drugs in the treatment of diseases such as cancer, trauma, burns, immune system disorders, and hemophilia. Thus, by including Türkiye in the class of countries producing critical drugs from plasma, we will hopefully end foreign dependency on these drugs. We wish it to be auspicious and beneficial for our country and nation. I congratulate all my brothers and sisters who contributed to the project individually.
"FACTORY WORK IN SILIVRI FOR BLOOD BAG PRODUCTION CONTINUES"
The establishment work continues for our factory in Silivri, where we will produce blood bags imported from abroad using our own means. With the completion of this factory, we will manufacture approximately 3 million blood bags annually in our country and in our own facility, reducing the import cost of 1 billion lira to zero.
We wish this investment, which we will put into service very soon, to be auspicious and beneficial. With these thoughts, I once again extend my gratitude to every member of our Red Crescent community, to all our volunteers who treat our mercy tree, which shoulders goodness, with care, and to our donors.
