In Tekirdağ, 1 ton 200 kilograms of offal, determined to be transported under unsuitable conditions, was seized in a closed van stopped by gendarmerie teams. The products, deemed unsanitary, were destroyed.
During an inspection at the E-80 European Highway Çorlu toll booths, teams discovered offal in sacks and reported the situation to the Tekirdağ Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry. Investigations revealed that the products were unlabeled, the vehicle lacked a cooling system, and it did not meet the necessary conditions for food transportation.
PRODUCTS DID NOT MATCH THE INVOICE
It was determined that the quantity on the invoice presented by the driver did not match the products found in the vehicle, and no traceability regarding the origin of the products could be established. The offal, suspected to have been obtained from diseased animals, was taken into custody and destroyed at a solid waste facility.
Tekirdağ Provincial Director of Agriculture and Forestry Mehmet Aksoy stated that inspections of products threatening public health continue and urged citizens to report suspicious situations to the Alo 174 Food Hotline.
