In a fire that broke out in a house in Bornova district of Izmir, father Hasan Girgin (71) lost his life, while his disabled son Uğur Girgin (47), a dialysis patient, was intubated at the hospital after being taken there in serious condition.
The fire started around 00:30 at the top floor of a 3-story apartment building located on 513 Street in Kızılay Neighborhood. Citizens who saw flames rising from the apartment on the top floor where Hasan Girgin and his dialysis patient son Uğur Girgin lived reported the situation to the 112 Emergency Call Center. Upon the report, the fire was extinguished by fire crews who arrived at the scene.
DISABLED SON SERIOUSLY INJURED
During inspections inside the apartment by the teams, it was determined that Hasan Girgin had lost his life. His disabled son Uğur Girgin, a dialysis patient in serious condition, was taken by ambulance to Ege University Faculty of Medicine Hospital. It was learned that Uğur Girgin, whose condition is critical, was intubated.
After examinations by crime scene investigation teams and the prosecutor at the burned house, Hasan Girgin's body was taken to the Izmir Forensic Medicine Institute morgue. An investigation has been initiated into the fire, which is believed to have started from an electrical contact.
