In his initial statement, the father who killed his 19-year-old daughter Elif K. and her 53-year-old lover Ercan O. at the entrance of an apartment building in Ankara’s Mamak district said that he had gone to talk, but that he went into a rage after the other party cursed at him. It was learned that Ercan O. was married, and an eyewitness describing the moment of the incident said: "I encountered the attacker. He had a gun in his hand. He told me, 'Don’t interfere, this is an honor killing. I have cleansed my honor. Now I am going to turn myself in.'"
The suspect who shot dead his daughter and her boyfriend in Ankara reportedly said that he went to the scene to talk, but after his daughter's boyfriend cursed at him, he lost control and committed the murders.
THEY DIED AT THE SCENE
The incident occurred yesterday evening at the entrance of an apartment building on Mamak Street in the Bahçeleriçi Neighborhood of Mamak district. According to the allegations, neighborhood headman B.K. learned that his 19-year-old daughter Elif K., who had left home about a month earlier, was in a relationship with 53-year-old Ercan O., who was married, and was living with him. A fight broke out between B.K., who went to the house where his daughter was living, and Ercan O. As the fight escalated, father B.K. fired his handgun at his daughter and her boyfriend. Following reports from people nearby, police and medical teams were dispatched to the area. The bodies of Ercan O. and Elif K., who were determined to have died, were taken to the Forensic Medicine Institute for an autopsy after the work at the scene. The attacker, B.K., surrendered to the police and was taken into custody.
THE WOMAN WHO LEARNED OF THE RELATIONSHIP LEFT HER HUSBAND
It was learned that Ercan O.'s wife, who worked as a hairdresser with him in the same shop, left Ercan O. after learning of the relationship and separated her home. It was reported that Elif K., who died, worked at a market. Meanwhile, Ercan O.'s relatives and his wife stated that they did not want to talk about the matter. It was stated that whether Elif K. was pregnant would become clear after the autopsy to be performed.

It was stated that in his initial defense, attacker B.K. said that his aim was to talk to his daughter, that he went to the scene with this intention, and that after Ercan O. cursed at him, he lost control and committed the murders.

Kaan Taştan, one of the shopkeepers who spoke about the incident, said, 'I heard gunshots. I went outside to see what had happened. I came across the attacker. He had a gun in his hand. He told me, 'Don't interfere, it's an honor killing. I have cleansed my honor. Now I am going to surrender.' Then he started walking forward. I came to the place where the incident occurred. A man and a woman were lying in blood. The man was motionless. The woman could move a little. We called the medical teams. At that moment, the woman died too. The woman's father had come and killed both of them. This was the dead man's house. The man was living with the woman in this house. Her father could not accept this situation and killed both of them. It is said that the woman was pregnant.'

Neighbor Ebubekir Aydın said, 'I heard several gunshots. They said someone had been killed. When I arrived, I saw the man and the woman lying side by side on the ground. They said it was an honor killing. The man shot by the attacker had died at that moment. There was a lot of blood. He had been shot in the back of the neck. The girl next to him had struggled a little to avoid being shot. The area was very crowded.'
