The 4.35 TL per liter reduction in diesel prices, effective from midnight, has been reflected at the pump. Within less than 24 hours, expectations of a new price hike have emerged. With the expected 3.55 TL increase, which is anticipated to take effect from tonight, prices are projected to exceed 80 TL again.
While the volatile trend in fuel prices continues, the fluctuations in Brent crude oil and exchange rates continue to directly affect prices. In the diesel group, the 4.35 TL reduction that came last night was reflected at the pump, but a new price hike expectation of 3.55 TL emerged shortly after.
4.35 TL REDUCTION REFLECTED AT THE PUMP
Effective from midnight, a 4.35 TL decrease occurred in the per liter price of diesel. The reduction was also reflected in the sales prices at fuel stations, providing drivers with a brief respite.
PRICES DECLINED
Following the reduction, the per liter price of diesel fell to 72.20 lira in Istanbul, 73.38 lira in Ankara, and 73.66 lira in Izmir. In eastern provinces, prices retreated to levels around 75.08 lira.
GLOBAL DEVELOPMENTS TRIGGERED NEW PRICE HIKE
However, international developments could cause prices to rise again. The inconclusive ceasefire talks between the US and Iran and moves regarding the Strait of Hormuz led to sharp fluctuations in oil markets. After the Brent crude oil price rose to $104, a new price hike expectation for diesel emerged.
3.55 TL PRICE HIKE EXPECTED TONIGHT
With the expected 3 lira 55 kurush hike, set to be effective from 00:01 on Wednesday, April 15, diesel prices are forecast to start rising again.
PRICES COULD EXCEED 80 TL AGAIN
With the expected increase being reflected at the pump, it is anticipated that the per liter price of diesel, especially in metropolitan cities, will once again exceed the 80 TL threshold.
