Minister of Treasury and Finance Mehmet Şimşek said regarding the May inflation figures: 'Although geopolitical risks and volatility in energy prices continue to put pressure on the inflation outlook, we have limited these effects with the steps we have taken. We will continue our policies in line with our goal of lasting price stability.'
The Consumer Price Index (CPI) was 1.71% on a monthly basis and 32.61% on an annual basis in May. The eagerly awaited figures drew the first comment from Treasury and Finance Minister Mehmet Şimşek.
"FOOD PRICES DECREASED BY 0.5% MONTHLY"
Minister Şimşek used the following statements regarding the May inflation figures:
"Inflation was 1.7% monthly and 32.6% annually in May. Supported by favorable weather conditions, food prices decreased by 0.5% on a monthly basis.
With rule-based pricing in education and the decline in rental inflation, annual services inflation improved by 10.1 points compared to the same period last year, reaching 41.1%.

5-MONTH RAISE RATE FOR CIVIL SERVANTS AND RETIREES
Meanwhile, following the announcement of inflation, the cumulative raise rates that civil servants, retired civil servants, and all worker retirees will receive in July have largely taken shape. Based on 5-month data, while SSI and Bağ-Kur retirees have already earned a 16.60% raise, the guaranteed rate for civil servants and retired civil servants, which includes collective bargaining and inflation difference calculations, has reached 12.40%.
