With TÜİK's May data, the 5-month cumulative inflation reached 16.61%. According to this figure, SSK and Bağ-Kur retirees are guaranteed a 16.61% increase, while the minimum pension of 20,000 TL is expected to be raised by the same rate through a legal proposal. The guaranteed rate for civil servants and retired civil servants, including the inflation difference, has reached 12.40%. With this calculation, the minimum civil servant salary rose to 72,388.67 TL, and the teacher salary increased to 82,472.97 TL. The exact raise rates will be confirmed with the June data at the beginning of July.
With the announcement of May inflation data by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK), the raise rates that millions of civil servants, retired civil servants, SSK and Bağ-Kur retirees will receive in July have largely taken shape. According to the cumulative data for five months, while workers and Bağ-Kur retirees have guaranteed a 16.61% raise, the rate earned by civil servants and retired civil servants including the inflation difference has reached 12.40%. Following salary calculations, the new civil servant salaries by profession have also become clear.
INFLATION FIGURES ANNOUNCED
According to TÜİK data, the Consumer Price Index (CPI) increased by 1.71% on a monthly basis in May. With this increase, annual inflation was recorded at 32.61%, while cumulative inflation for the January-May period covering the first five months of the year reached 16.61%.
RETIREE RAISE WILL BE REFLECTED IN BASE SALARIES
According to the announced official data, the raise table for retirees and civil servants has taken shape as follows:
- SSK and Bağ-Kur Retirees: They have already guaranteed a 16.61% raise for the five-month period. These figures announced by TÜİK will be directly reflected in retirees' base salaries without any welfare share addition.
- Lowest Retiree Salary Adjustment: Since raises will be reflected in the base salary in accordance with SGK regulations, this would not normally create a change in the salaries of millions of people currently receiving the lowest retiree pension of 20,000 TL. However, to prevent this situation, a law proposal to be submitted to the Parliament will increase the lowest retiree pension by the rate of the inflation difference.
- Civil Servants and Retired Civil Servants: Civil servants who received an 11% raise in the first half of the year under the collective agreement earned a difference when inflation exceeded this rate. With the addition of the five-month inflation difference to the 7% second-half raise in July, the cumulative raise rate guaranteed by civil servants became 12.40%.
